First, Let’s know a little bit of Ottawa. It is a Canada’s capital, and some of the country’s unique attractions, vibrant celebrations, and diverse flavors. With its blend of urban and rural beauty, year-round outdoor activities, and lively neighborhoods, the Ottawa region is best experienced over one day or more.

One of the must-visit spot in Ottawa! Situated overlooking the Ottawa River. The Parliament has three buildings: the East, the West, and the Centre Blocks.

Wander the grounds to explore the exterior and enjoy the breathtaking Gothic architecture. The buildings were constructed between 1859 and 1927, showcasing impressive details such as soaring columns, spires, stained glass window, and peaked arches. At the back of the buildings, you can also enjoy river views, looking across to the province of Quebec.

On July 1st, Canada Day celebrations occur on the lawn of the Parliament Buildings. This is Canada’s largest celebration, featuring live entertainment and fireworks, and the best part is that it’s free!

4. Wander on Elgin Street

Explore Elgin street to see historic monuments and beautiful architecture. At the top of the street is the National War Memorial, which honors Canadians who served in wars and includes the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I enjoyed experiencing Ottawa from the water because it offered a unique perspective that cannot be obtained through many other means. I purchased tickets from the ticket booth near the pick-up/ drop-off point, but you can also buy tickets online in advance. The tour was quite enjoyable-the live guide provided commentary in both English and French and highlighted numerous points of interest.

Another option is the guided tour with the Lady Dive “Duck Boat” Tour, where the bus takes you around on land and then transitions into a boat tour on the water.
