Avocado Toast Basics Ingredients

  • Bread:  slices of your favorite bread (sourdough, whole grain, or any preferred type). I prefer whole wheat.
  • Avocado: A soft and ripe avocado is perfect since we will mash it.
  • Lemon juice: Adding some lemon juice to your avocado can keep it fresh and green for longer.
  • Salt and pepper: Season and taste your avocado.
  • Butter: Add butter to prevent the bread from sticking to the skillet and enhance flavor.

How to make Avocado Toast

  1. Firstly, heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat. After heating the skillet, you can toast your bread with butter. You could toast bread in the oven or a toaster.
  2. Meanwhile, cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and mash the inner flesh in a bowl with a fork.
  3. If you desire to burst an extra flavor and want to prevent from browning then consider adding dash of lemon juice to mashed avocado. (optional}
  4. As the toast reaches a golden perfection then spread mashed avocado on toasted bread evenly.
  5. Lastly, sprinkle salt and pepper to suit your preferred taste.

Here are my favorite avocado toast toppings to take your avocado game to the next level.

Add garlic: To add a layer of flavor to your toast, take a peeled raw garlic clove and rub it lightly over the top of your toast before adding the avocado. Alternatively, mix a tiny pinch of garlic powder into the avocado.

Add fresh leafy herbs: For a burst of freshness, you can chop some fresh basil, cilantro, dill, or parsley and mix it with the avocado. 

Put an egg on it: To make your avocado toast more filling, add a fried, poached, or scrambled egg on top of the avocado. It adds extra protein to your meal.

 Extra toppings : Experiment with various toppings to find what you like best. Some ideas include onions, green onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, red pepper flakes, cheese and your favorite hot sauce.
