From Punjabi food to Indian street food, there are all kinds of delicious and authentic Indian dishes to try in Greater Toronto Area!
Here are some of the best Indian restaurants to try in GTA, all are the budget-friendly spots.
Of course, there are plenty of excellent and authentic Indian restaurants in the city, and these are just some of my favorite Indian restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area.
1. Gurulakshmi


It is one of my favorite restaurants for South Indian cuisine, located in Mississauga. It offers a variety of dishes. The restaurant is highly praised for its flavors, service, and cleanliness. For me, it is at the top of the South Indian list and offers 100% vegetarian dishes.
I went there multiple times with my friends. We tried Mysore masala Dosa, Rava masala Dosa, rasam, badam halwa, and many more dishes. They have many options in Dosas with can be customized.
If you plan to dine in, please make a reservation, as it always stays full on weekends and weekdays.

2. Tamarind Modern Indian Bistro


Tamarind Restaurant is one of my go-to places for delicious vegetarian food, and I’ve visited multiple times to try a variety of dishes. The restaurant has a great ambiance, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed dining experience, plus outdoor seating. This place is located nearby to Square one mall in Mississauga. I love their presentation of dishes, it is just amazing.

3. Befikre


Befikre Restaurant offers a vibrant dining experience with a perfect blend of great food, lively music, and a stylish interior. The restaurant features a well-stocked bar, making it a great spot to unwind with a drink while enjoying the energetic atmosphere. The live music performances add to the charm, creating an engaging and enjoyable ambiance. With its thoughtfully designed interiors and welcoming vibe, Befikre is an ideal place for a fun night out, whether you’re catching up with friends or celebrating a special occasion. This place is located nearby to Square one mall in Mississauga. I tried veg chowmin with a drink and Rasmalai for dessert.

4. Daal -Roti

Daal Roti offers delicious Indian food at reasonable prices, with a wide variety of dishes. Their lunch buffet is a great option to sample everything. They are opened in multiple locations. I tried the one located in Mississauga. Definitely worth a visit!

5. Himalayan Kitchen

If you love eating momos, you must try Himalayan Kitchen in Toronto. It’s a small, often crowded restaurant, but the food is definitely worth the wait. They serve delicious momos, noodles, and more. Although finding a seat can be challenging during busy times, I believe it’s a fantastic place to enjoy momos. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you enjoy Nepalese, Tibetan with Indian fusion.

6. Khazana Toronto

It is located in downtown Toronto, few minutes walk from Eaton Center Mall so if you are planning to roam around Dundas Street must try this restaurant. It offers authentic Indian cuisine crafted by famous Indian Chef Sanjeev Kapoor.

7. Biryaniwala Milton
The great place for Biryani lovers with a lot of variety. Also, offers platters so, a good option when you want to throw a party for your friends and family. I tried its paneer biryani, also they have options in non- vegetarian. It has multiple location in GTA such as in Scarborough, Hamilton, and North York. 8. Milan Mississauga- Indian street food

It’s the best place for snacks and street food like bhel, misal pav, pav bhaji, sev puri, and more. They also have a variety of chai to try. A great place to hang out with friends and family. It is also located in Brampton, Hamilton and Cambridge. I’ve tried at the one located in Mississauga, one of my another go-to-place for chai and snacks.

9. Ice and Spice – Port Credit
This restaurant is located in Port Credit, a neighborhood in Mississauga. My friends and I always go there if we visit Port Credit. One of my favorite restaurants for Punjabi and Hakka. Their service is also amazing, never disappointed me. We tried a lot of dishes like Paneer tikka masala, Paneer matar masala, Bhel Puri, Pani-puri, Momos and Hakka fried potatoes. I love their rumali roti, only few restaurants have rumali roti in their menu. I love the food and overall ambiance of the place. Must try this place!



10. Eggoholic
If you love eggs, this restaurant is a must-visit! They offer an incredible variety of egg dishes that will delight your taste buds. I visited the location in Scarborough, but they have many other locations across Canada and even overseas.
